We again headed out early this morning for a short drive to Cooper Jack Beach and Juba Sound. However, as they say the best part of the destination is sometimes the journey. We took lots of side roads along the beach to see what might be at the end. We found some great water views as well as another AMAZING home or should I say complex. This one we did drive pretty close to and well if we were bold enough we could have gone to the front... but didn't want to cause any alarms.
Pretty much all morning was exploring and walking on beaches.
We came back to the condo for a quick grabbing of our snorkel gear and we headed off towards Turtle Cove and Smiths Reef. Turtle cove is a beautiful marina with several nice dock side restaurants and shops. We enjoyed a nice lunch at the Tiki Hut at dock side. Then afterwards we just had a 3 minute drive to the beach where the reef was.
The day was good and hot so we couldn't wait to get into the water. Again the reef was right on the beach and the sea life was amazing. It is amazing how many things you miss the first time you go over it, when you go over it again and really look there is so much more than just fish life. Some of the pictures will help you understand this. After a few hours there, it was time to head back to the condo and crash.
Since it was July 4th Mother Nature wanted to show off with LOTS of fireworks (Lightning). So that was pretty much the rest of the night.
July 5
Today was our first day of full cloud. We had lots of rain over night and it rained a bit off and on most of the morning. But we were okay to just sit around and read. In late morning we headed back out to get more rum (that stuff evaporated right here in the condo, funny thing)! Since it was around lunch time we went back to Turtle Cove and another restaurant right on the dock called Shark Bite. It is a road house kind of restaurant from burgers to Indian food. The prices at the Tiki Hut and the Shark Bite are pretty much the same as home, so that is a bonus. The seating area is actually over the water in places so there is a great view of the harbour and boats coming and going. I spotted a turtle while we were there.
On the way back to the condo we stopped off at the Salt Mills, the local retails shops. Since it was a grey day, what a good chance to shop.
The evening came fast but we still found time for a nice walk on the beach.
Some streets don't clear well after a heavy rain
The complex down on the point of Juba Sound
