Turks and Caicos DAY 1

Good evening from MOST definitely one of the best places for beaches and water we have been so far AND this is only after a few hours being here.  Right now it is 8:30 and it is already dark here.  Being closer to the equator does that!  It was very hot here today as it should be for this time of year.  However, right now is the kind of summer night we all dream of!  It is warm with a great ocean breeze and the palms are moving like crazy.  We are sitting out on our patio surrounded by the pool (on the same level) and the palms.  They have coloured spot lights all around.  Oh and to top it off the sky is filled with stars.

The flight was very good and we got to Toronto ahead of time and the same thing happened coming here.

The customs was fast and the luggage arrived with us. Getting though everything and getting outside was very civilized. Nothing like the crazy stuff anyone who goes down south in the winter has to deal with.  There are not tons of people at the airport trying to sell you things or get you into their taxi.  We found our way to our car rental folks and before you knew it we were on our way. Well not before the guy gave me a helpful pointer.  I also read this in the brochure.  If you go to a secluded beach somewhere... make sure nothing is left in the car.  Leave the car unlocked and roll down the windows a bit.  That is for even the biggest idiot who may plan on robbing you to see that the car is unlocked.  It keeps folks from having to pay for a glass replacement. The rental car guy gave us a map and said it was easy to find our condo.  Pretty much follow the only main road for about 15 minutes and pass 8 round abouts.  Now round abouts are nothing when we are in Canada... but when you are driving on the left side of the road roundabouts take a bit more skill.  Well with Greg as my trusty navigator I managed to make it to the condo without a problem or a "HOLY JESUS".  I kind of didn't mind driving on the left.  I guess driving in Australia does help ones left side driving (right Angela?).
After we checked into our AMAZING CONDO we headed off in the a/c full blast car to get some groceries.  OKAY... now let me tell you.  Groceries here are NOT... I repeat... NOT CHEAP!  Take away the 1.75L bottle of rum and 6 beer the bill came to near $300.00  Greg seems to think we got a lot of stuff but really it might take us through 10 days and that is not eating every meal here and a long way from eating in luxury!.  We will see...
The great thing about the grocery store is I found this squeeze bottle of pina colada mix... just add pineapple juice, rum and ice and I'm telling you it is the best I ever tasted.  YES, I will be filling up before we head back.

We are leaving you with just a few pictures of what we did so far... not much on our first day.

Francis making a Pina Colada (Oh Lorianne, I wish you were here!)

This is the view from our patio

A simple picture says it all!
