We spent the first part of the morning by the pool, since anytime you go outside day or night it is warm/hot. After our showers we hit the road around 11:00. We drove for about 15 minutes south to South Dock which is pretty close to the picture we took when we were flying in. The tide was low and the water was about 20 cm deep and crystal clear. The white sand makes it just so clear. We went for a nice 30 minute walk to take it all in. The sand is like walking in sugar and sometimes like powder. We got back into the car and just did some side road sight seeing. You can't really get lost since the Island is pretty small. We had a map but pretty much just went where ever the road took us. After this we headed in the north direction to pretty much the end of Providenciales (that is the Island we are on). The spot we headed to was Northwest Point. The road down to the beach is kind of like a dirt/sand and only enough room for a small car. So when we met another car it was like.. okay NOW WHAT? Lucky I'm a good "backer upper"... and didn't have to go that far to bring the car into a small clear area enough for the other guy to get by.
The beach here is more natural, with seaweed and all. The water is still very shallow but there are lots of rock beds and weed, so it will be a great place to try the snorkel. We took a nice walk on this beach too but the walked ended when a thunder storm came up. We decided to head back rather than risk getting rained on with all our camera equipment. Mind you, we just took our time walking back and took some great pictures with the nice water and the nice dark sky.
On the way back to almost the other end of the Island, where we are staying, again we took lots of side roads and explored some different parts of this Island. One road took us down to the local drug dealers I guess, since they were like "hey man, ya want some good grass" and we assumed he didn't mean the kind they grow here on their front lawns that doesn't need to be cut.
We arrived back at the condo about 3:00 and spend the next few hours by the pool. The wind was blowing and the sun was hot, so it was perfect. I would have had a good sleep if the thunder storm didn't wake me up. Before this however we have never seen the sky look the way it did. We swear the clouds were greenish blue. I think we would have freaked out if we were in Japan since it looked like it might be radioactive or something :) Just like earlier we never got anything other than the sounds and soon it passed.
After supper we headed down for a walk to the local beach. We had a great guide... the local "potcake" and before you think we are talking about that drug dealer again... don't worry a potcake is the local dogs. The breed is called potcakes. Anyway we met this dog last night when she arrived on our deck. Tonight we just decided to go to the beach and took a wrong route and ran into the dog. We just said our hellos and said go to the beach... AND YES we followed the dog through the small path between two houses to the beach. Okay, we did ask this lady and she pointed it out. But the dog didn't know we knew. The beach is about 10 minutes and it is pretty nice too.
It is now 9:30 and we just got in from a nice swim in the pool. Like I said before even when it is dark it is beautiful outside. Ahhhh the life.
