Vancouver 2010 Olympics Day 1 and 2
A big "warm" hello from the west coast!
We are writing this with the sounds of birds outside, green grass, buds starting and some flowers out. Yep this is a Vancouver winter!!!
The flight out was great and pretty fast and uneventful. Tony ... we didn't "hate" even once :) However we are glad we took a bit of food with us since Air Canada does not even give free nuts anymore. Everything is for sale now.
Yesterday we went downtown to sightsee and get our bearing on some of the event venues and directions on how to get to them. The city is for sure buzzing! Everyone seems like they are high on something, then again this is the west coast, maybe they are like that all the time :)
Even when we were in a 90 minute lineup for the last of our Olympic tickets, people were still happy.
Today we will hit the road early and go check out a few more things downtown. There is so much more to see and do here other than sporting events. Many countries have pavillions and restaurants. Oh forgot to tell you... we already had some wonderful Turkish food and last night Japanese.
One of the HIGHLIGTHS from yesterday is below in a picture. We got to hold a torch! That was quite the feeling. Plus it was used that morning, so it was fresh with excitement!
Enjoy the pics...

Hey there! I am so jealous. Wish I was there. It must be so exciting. All the different countries, people, cultures. And the weather-wonderful. I will be watching the opening ceremony tonight, but it will not as great as being there in person. I bet you can feel the electricity in the air. I hope Canada cleans up on the medal count. Have fun and take care and keep us all up to date.

Wow, can you believe that it's really time for it all to begin! I'm going to hunker down tonight to watch on our big screen TV but it won't even compare to your view of the event. Have a spectacular time - and even if we don't see you on TV, wave to us all back here anyway!
