Day 11 began with a nice walk (with the dog, Jazz) down through the neighbourhood and over to the coast (which isn't far in Victoria). Later in the morning Frank took us out for a sightseeing tour up to Bear Mountain, a new resort area. He then dropped us off downtown and we began to explore. There are so many things in bloom, (they even have hummingbirds) We walked around checking out the normal tourist sites downtown; The Empress Hotel, Chinatown, the Legislative Buildings, and the Harbour front. We had a nice lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory and was able to get a deal on IMAX tickets. We ended up going to see a nice 45 minute show called Under the Sea (all about a reef). Frank picked us up soon afterwards and we spent the rest of the evening catching up with he and Esther (while watching the Olympics).
Day 12 came with another walk in the late morning. Esther took us on her route to UVic. Okay, what one notices about UVic other than the nice campus... RABBITS. Some, once tame rabbits, have now reproduced themselves 100 fold. It is really nice to walk around campus and see cute rabbits everywhere. It also seems that if you have a carrot or two you can convince these little furry creatures to eat out of your hand.
After the University, we walked to a local beach/pub where Frank met us for lunch.
After lunch we came back here and did the prep for a dinner party. Esther and Frank invited a few of their friends and family over for a nice turkey dinner.
Day 13 like most of the other days in BC began with watching some Olympics and getting some laundry done. In early afternoon we all loaded in the car and headed back to the waterfront (downtown) for a VERY famous fish and chip truck. However before we got there we went up to the highest point in the city to check out the pretty much 360o view of the whole city. What an amazing view (see the pics). Now back to that great fish and chips. Greg and I had noticed the line up when we were walking around the first day. Well if you ever come here... YOU MUST visit the place down by the float planes on the water front. After lunch we did a bit more walking around and then headed back here to relax and check out how Canada was doing at the games.
It is going to be an early night since we head off to the ferry early tomorrow morning. Our stay in BC is fast coming to an end and the 35 degree temps. of Thailand is coming up.
On another note, for those of you who work at UNB. The other day Greg and I were walking downtown Vancouver when who do I run into on the street? John Born. He is on a leave from UNB at the BC Film School. It was cool running into him.
