Well here we are on the 11 hour flight to Seoul, Korea followed by a short 5 ½ hour flight to Bangkok. All we can say is ... YIPEE for Executive Class! Yes, we used our many Aeroplan points to fly us halfway around the world (and back). Our host in Vancouver, Jim, dropped us off at the airport and we were checked in and through security in about 20 minutes. Executive class for sure has a lot of benefits. We made our way to the Air Canada Lounge for free breakfast and whatever else we needed. We just sat there in soft leather seats, ate, read and looked at the great view. Did I tell you Executive class has benefits! "GREAT coffee, too!". According to Greg.
We are sitting here in our private cubicles with our feet up and everything one could possibly want (other than fresh air). We had not even left the ground when we were drinking champagne and looking over all the perks of Executive Class. Hell this seat even goes down into a bed and I might even try it out later on. If I can't sleep I can always use the massage part of the seat to get a back rub. The only thing is, this is pretty much a day flight for us. We are half way through the flight and it is just coming near 6:00 pm We will try to catch a bit of sleep since by the time we get to our hotel in Bangkok it will be 5:00 am BC time. The good thing is it will be coming near bedtime for Thailand.
What Air Canada lacks in service for Economy they sure make it up for the other. We had a wonderful drink followed by a well presented, tasty, salad plus a salmon appetizer, all served on a pristine white linen tablecloth .... How classy is that? Sorry folks but I didn't eat the salmon (yuk) but Greg did and loved it. I will admit it was presented nice and looked great. Then they took around a choice of fresh rolls followed by a choice of main courses. I think there were 4 choices. We ordered the Red Curry Chicken. Again it arrived well presented and very tasty. I wonder what the poor folks in Economy class had? Hopefully more than what we had on the way to Vancouver (NOTHING). After they picked up the dishes, with real cutlery, they took around a cheese service with 3 nice cheeses and some grapes. Then the last course was a choice of hot chocolate cake with ice cream or fresh fruit slices. GUESS WHAT WE HAD? Our flight attendant commented on 'how could a Moffitt not choose the chocolate cake'. Her name was Shelley Moffat. Now this is only one service ... there are 2 more before we arrive.
A long flight is a great way to see a bunch a movies you wanted to see but never had the chance. I have watched 2 so far and I'm sure there will be another one. Greg only watched one and it was one he has watch twice before but since he falls asleep during most movies this was the first time he watched the entire movie. ;) Now he is play a game on the IPod Touch. He also did a Sudoku, another number game in the paper and read some of his book .. Greg wants to thank his sister, Kathryn, for the book.
The next part of the Blog will start in Thailand. Good night and Good morning! Cheers. Wine will soon be served again!
Hello from Thailand. We arrived at our hotel fine and everything went great and as planned. The airports here are BIG and so clean and quiet. We did sleep most of the 5 hour flight to Bangkok, so it went by fast enough.
We got at our hotel and got settled in the room (we have a 5:00 a.m. wake up call) ... like that is needed with jetlag! It is now 4:30 and we have been up for a bit. Well I'm not sure if it is because of jetlag or the fact that our bed feels like a piece of wood with a 2 cm form on top of it. Oh well we can sleep another time.
Oh great shot of me eating
Greg enjoying a preflight Champagne

Hey Boys!!
ReplyDeleteWow, those first class seats look nice!! Don't ask what the people in coach got, just enjoy your flight on executive!! ;-)
By the way, that photo of the BC Parliament bldg was amazing. I never knew it was so... majestic. Then again, the only other Parliaments I've seen were QC (grand), NS (don't really remember) and NB, and the one in Freddy has been dwarfed by that humongous office bldg (who on Earth approved that??? hahaha)
Anyway guys, I hope you're having a blast. Say hi to Joey and tell me what the BKK metro looks like. I've heard it's very modern and sleek. Sending you big hugs,
Seb
Hurrah CANADA! We got GOLD in hockey against USA. You likely watched the game, did you? The icing on the cake.
