Day 6 and 7 (Canada Day)

Day 6, June 30

Today we decided to have an off sun day.  Not that you get away from it but at least don't lie around in it :)  It is always so nice to have sun everyday.  Sorry if you are not!

We wanted to take some time and return to the Chalk Sound area.  That is the area the plane flies over when it comes in.  So that is what we did, just took our time and headed down lots of side roads to check out the scenery.  There are some areas down along the coast that just made our jaws drop and that includes some of the homes.  You will see by one photo how amazing this one home is.  When we took the photo it was from across the bay and I thought for sure that it must be a hotel or some public place.  It couldn't be private.  Well on our way back through we took the side road to find it.  We did and IT IS A PRIVATE home.  Get this, it is built on and island and the driveway has a bridge that turns.  In this case it was turned so that no cars could get down (or people)!  I'm sure they didn't know we were coming or they would have been more cordial!

Around lunch time we stopped at the Las Brisas restaurant which has a most perfect view of Chalk Sound.  The restaurant is all in shade but it is always warm and where they are near the ocean the breeze was perfect.  Greg had the pulled pork sandwich and I tried the Conch and chips... tasted a lot like clams and chips but still very tasty.  I tried not to think about what the live ones look like from the last pictures we posted.
After lunch we were on our way back and stopped for a short walk up a small hill near the gates of the wharf at South Dock.  It was high enough to get a 360 of the area.  What a view!!!

The rest of the afternoon was spent swimming in the pool and reading in the shade.  Followed by a catered meal (for Greg) from Francis' kitchen :)

Later in the evening we made Pina Coladas and went to the other side of the complex (around the pool) to the Moncton couple's unit and sat outside on their deck and talked.
We couldn't head off to bed without a 11:00 swim.  Unlike home after dark it is still nice and warm and the pool is now just cool enough to sooth out the day's stresses!

Day 7, July 1

Happy Canada Day everyone!

Oh most of the day was uneventful since all we did was read by the pool. We so love our new ereaders. Electronic books are so wonderful.... no pages to physically turn and they are so light.  To turn the page, you tap the screen.  How awesome is that.

As we were reading it did actually rain for about 20 minutes and cleared out a lot of the humidity.  Then the sun came out again and it was perfect for the rest of the day.  Around 5:30 we put on our Canada Day shirts and headed to a restaurant/bar right on the beach.  We started with a rum punch.  Now I know what the punch means... since half way though, it felt liked we were punched.  I'm glad the food came to get rid of the "punch" :)
Then we went for ice cream and that is pretty much it for today.  We are now sitting on our deck by the pool just relaxing (even more).  The wind has picked up big time so it is nice to hear the palms moving.

Enjoy the blog posting.

We noticed this area on the way by and turned the car around

Chalk Sound and the mushroom islands

This is the house... one family? What star lives here?

Just a wider ankle to see the water

This water is hard to believe!

What better way to celebrate Canada than with a Mexican beer!

"Oh Canada"
