Aloha day 1

Aloha,

Our first night was a good one. We were dead tired, as you can imagine. We were however up early, 6:00 a .m. to explore. We went for a nice long walk on the beach before "normal" folk were even up. Came back and went into Kihei shopping a bit... we did need all our normal living supplies. It takes a bit of planning to eat well and not need a loan. Some things here are very expensive and others not so bad. Rum and beer... cheap. Pineapple... not as cheap as I would have thought, $4:00 CDN, but they are very tasty. We stopped at a fruit stand on the way back to our condo and tried and purchased some interesting stuff. This one fruit (which I love) looks like a round lime looking thing but more with a papaya looking skin. The flesh is white and so tasty.

The late morning and early afternoon were spent on the beach. It gets SO hot but the afternoon brings strong sea breezes, thank god.

After we had our fill of the beach, we drove back through Kihei and out as far as the road (that road anyway) will take us. It ends at an old lava field. It was perfect timing since the waves were up and the local surfers were enjoying it. We spoke to a few and they were very happy that the Canadians are still coming to Hawaii. They like when we spend our CDN Dollars here :)

The rest of the day was pretty much beach and enjoying the outdoors.

Enjoy the pics...
